The LCMS Office of National Mission partners with the SELC District to support mission work in Montreal, Quebec. Mission Central, working with the LCMS office of Mission Advancement, also provides support. The SELC congregation there, Ascension Lutheran Church (ascensionlutheran.ca), has been proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ in Canada’s second largest city for over 90 years. The congregation itself is small, but it has taken on the Lord’s work of proclaiming the Gospel to the tens of thousands of immigrants surrounding their church building. Ascension is the only English-speaking confessional Lutheran church in the region of 4.3 million people, and hosts a French-speaking congregation of the Lutheran Church – Canada.

Rev. Charles St-Onge is the lead missionary at Ascension. He is placed there with his wife Deborah and two teenage daughters, who are also active in Ascension’s mission. Download their prayer card for more information on them. At the top right of the website is a signup form for their monthly newsletter, as well as links to his sermon podcast and weekly devotion email.
